Milka Wahu is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a distinguished human rights practitioner with over 15 years of experience in social justice lawyering. She is the Founder of Amka Africa, where she provides strategic leadership in resource mobilization, organizational development, and program implementation.

Milka holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Human Rights and Constitutional Law and is currently a PhD candidate at the Chair of African Legal Studies at the University of Bayreuth, Germany. She also serves as a Senior Lecturer at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) School of Law.

She is also a certified mediator and published author on social justice issues and plays a pivotal role in bridging the organization’s secretariat and its Board of Governance.

Shelmith Maranya is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with 3 years of experience in legal practice. She serves as the Programs Lead by providing strategic and legal oversight across all program areas. She leads the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs driving the organization’s vision and impact.

Shelmith holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law, and a Diploma in French from Alliance Française de Nairobi. She is also a certified mediator and a published author on human rights issues.

Grace Mueni is a finance professional with over 4 years of experience. She leads financial management, compliance, and reporting functions ensuring accountability, transparency, and operational efficiency across programs. She is passionate about leveraging financial systems to advance social impact and strengthen grassroots initiatives.

Grace holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance Option) from the University of Nairobi, a Diploma in Counselling Psychology at the East Africa Institute of Professional Counselling and is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K). She is also currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Strathmore University Business School.

Tasha is a law student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) with a strong commitment to advancing justice. She is a polymath with her interests spanning from minority rights, women and girls rights, immigration rights to cross-cultural exchange, creative writing and sports. She supports the organization’s visibility and advocacy efforts through strategic communications.

Chebet Joan is a Bachelor of Laws graduand from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). She supports the modern slavery and anti-trafficking programme as a Project Assistant, providing legal aid services as well as logistical and administrative support.

Camara is a final year law student at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) School of Law. He supports agrifood systems, climate action, and environmental justice initiatives by providing administrative, legal, logistical, and technical assistance.

Antony Akollo is a dedicated researcher, trained mediator, and a student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) School of Law. He serves as a liaison between Amka Africa and university legal aid clinics, strengthening mentorship of young lawyers in social justice. He also supports women’s empowerment, gender minority inclusion, and equality initiatives in his role as Project Assistant.

Ryan Giggs is a financial professional with two years of experience in financial management. He holds a Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering from the Kenya Aeronautical College.
