1. Komesha Ajira ya Watoto Mtaani (Eradicating Exploitative Child Domestic Work)
Overview
This project aims at eradicating the exploitation of young girls and women in domestic work and combating trafficking and other modern slavery practices. The project adopts a multipronged approach that incorporates; community engagement and empowerment, legal support to victims and survivors, policy advocacy, public interest litigation, duty bearer engagement, mentorship of young lawyers, and digital and in-person awareness raising initiatives to address both the root causes and consequences of exploitation.What the Project Addresses
Child domestic work remains one of the most invisible and underreported forms of child exploitation in Kenya, particularly within urban informal settlements. Driven by multiple root causes such as poverty, limited awareness, poor parenting and care structures, weak enforcement of child protection laws, and gaps within the legal framework, many children, especially girls, are pushed into domestic work and exposed to hazardous and exploitative conditions.2. Global Project Women Empowerment for Resilient Rural Areas (WE4R)
Overview
Our goal under this project is to strengthen the institutional, individual capacities and technical expertise of gender change agents (duty bearers, grassroots non-state actors, academia, legal professionals, women leaders) to enhance women’s access to rights, resources and representation in the context of sustainable land resource management.
What the project addresses
Intact land resources are the foundation for livelihoods in rural areas. For women, the lack of rights, access to land resources and representation in land resource management increases their vulnerability to land degradation, biodiversity and climate change.
3.Sustainable Agricultural Systems and Policies (AgSys)
Overview
Our goal under this project is to strengthen transformation processes towards sustainable agricultural systems for women and youth through capacity building and policy advocacy. We employ a multi-dimensional approach that will influence and empower women and youth in agrifood systems.
What the project addresses
Despite contributing significantly to the agricultural sector, women and youth rarely own or control agricultural resources, have limited access to credit and financing, and remain underrepresented in both formal and informal decision-making structures.
4. Project Firimbi (whistle) for Gender inclusivity and Dignity’
Overview
This communications project seeks to preserve, safeguard, and advance the milestones achieved in the advocacy journey for the rights of intersex persons in Kenya through the production of a film documentary.
What the project addresses
Kenya has made significant strides in advancing human rights, particularly following the adoption of the 2010 Constitution, which guarantees fundamental rights and freedoms to all persons.
